GERI Facilities
Due to the multidisciplinary nature of our institute, GERI has established research laboratories and offices at several different locations around the UCI Campus.
- University Research Park, 100 Theory Drive, Suite 100.
- Space:
- More than 10,000 sq.ft. is leased for the UC Irvine Center for Cancer Genetic Research and Prevention (CCGRP) and GERI.
- Extensive IT Investment:
- Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including fiber optic cabling, to provide connectivity to UC Irvine’s Internet backbone. Firewalls and an alarm system ensure confidentiality and security of study participants’ medical records.
- Irvine Hall: Administrative staff offices
- Sprague Hall:
- Established advanced technology laboratory:
- Utilized by GERI researchers to genotype large-scale population samples of cancer patient specimens. Provides state-of-the-art robotic sample preparation setups, PCR amplification and a DNA sequencing apparatus. Utilizes efficient mutations screening techniques thus allowing researchers to screen our large population samples for mutations in cancer-causing genes and allowing us to generate new data on genetic variations useful in current research and future research designs.
