Collaborations
The following is a list of current partnerships between GERI and other organizations:
- State of California Cancer Registry (CCR): CCR is the statewide population-based cancer surveillance system which collects information about all cancers diagnosed in California. UC Irvine partnered with CCR and is home to CCR data records from collected by UC Irvine for four counties (Orange, Riverside, San Diego and Imperial) from 1987 – 2007. The CCR helps in our understanding of cancer and in develop strategies and policies for prevention, treatment and control. Cancers can be cured if detected early and treated promptly. Our partnership with CCR allows GERI health researchers to analyze geographic, ethnic, occupational and other differences that provide clues that point to risk factors.
- Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC): GERI, in association with CHOC, established the Kids, Adolescents, and Young Adults Cancer Research Program (KAYAC) as one means of improving the health and well-being of kids, adolescents and young adults with cancer.
- Middle Eastern Cancer Consortium (MECC): GERI’s advanced management experience with Cancer Registry Programs has led GERI researchers provide leadership and to collaborate with this international group of researchers and public health officials in order to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer in this region of the world.
- First Genetic Trust: This firm developed a comprehensive secure information technology infrastructure that supports the development and adoption of genetic based medicines and diagnostic services important to the research of GERI and in clinical education.
